Average range in size from four to seven pounds, the Yorkshire Terrier, affectionately known as "Yorkie," offers a big personality in a small package. They are brave, loyal, intelligent, and make wonderful loving companions. Yorkies are easily adaptable to most surroundings, travel well and make suitable pets for many homes.
Yorkies get along well with children, but they donít have the patience for the sudden moves and rough play of very small ones. Keep in mind that although fearless in nature a Yorkie can be fragile due to it's small size, so they should never be left unattended with small children.
Size: Average 4-7 pounds (occasionally smaller or larger)
Exercise Requirements: Due to their small size, they require limited exercise, but need daily interaction with people.
Coat: Yorkies are non-shedding and have no dander, making them a great pet choice for people with allergies. Their long hair (much like human hair) requires regular brushing unless kept clipped into a low maintenance style such as the "puppy cut".
